NeoCon'10: Node educational seating line by Steelcase wins Innovation award

Designed for the education market, node supports both
left- and right-handed students with a tabletop that
swivels to either side. The base and arm can hold a
variety of student backpacks and bags.

June 23, 2010—Steelcase Inc. a global office environments manufacturer, showcased new seating solutions including node for the education market, at the NeoCon World's Trade Fair at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.

Node won an Innovation award in The Best of NeoCon competition.

With an increased focus on digital tools and a more diverse student population, group work is essential to the modern classroom, says Steelcase. The company's new educational chair, node, caters to this mode of learning so classrooms can catch up to the technology students are already using, while also enhancing the learning experience.

With the swivel feature on node, students have visual and physical access to each other and to content. They can easily rotate to view the board, the instructor and other students, or transition back into group activities.

Node offers more table surface than a traditional chair with tablet arm, providing enough personal work space to access multiple tools in one setting. It supports both left- and right-handed students with a table top that swivels to either side. In addition, the base and arm can hold a variety of student backpacks and bags, keeping them out of the aisles and reclaiming the space below the seat.

Node will be available to ship in the United States in July 2010.
