Beebe Healthcare receives award for excellence in health care facilities management

by Brianna Crandall — October 29, 2014—Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware, is the 2014 recipient of the Excellence in Health Care Facility Management award from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association.

The Excellence in Health Care Facility Management award, sponsored by Trane, recognizes an individual or facilities management department that has implemented new or innovative programs or processes.

According to the judges, the Environment of Care Committee at Beebe Healthcare worked to develop a comprehensive spreadsheet tool that tracked compliance information during environmental tours. The tool includes 53 questions and incorporates 2014 National Patient Safety Goals.

“This process is a result of the dedication of our facilities team in our journey to become a high-reliability organization,” said Jeffery M. Fried, FACHE, president and CEO of Beebe Healthcare.

The team involved in the project includes: Sandy McCurdy, CHFM, Manager of Facilities; Jerry Owens, CHFM, CHSP, Corporate Safety Officer; and Jim Keyzer, Director of Facilities.

The award was presented at ASHE’s Leadership Institute in Arizona this month.
