Brevard Achievement Center achieves CIMS-GB green cleaning certification

by Brianna Crandall — April 20, 2015—Brevard Achievement Center (BAC), a nonprofit organization that provides services and programs to assist people with disabilities in achieving personal success, has successfully completed certification to the ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) and CIMS-Green Building (CIMS-GB) criteria with Honors.

To earn CIMS certification, the Rockledge, Florida-based in-house service provider underwent a comprehensive assessment by an independent, accredited CIMS assessor to demonstrate its delivery of consistent, quality service and that it is committed to efficient operations and continuous improvement. BAC demonstrated its compliance with the five core principles of the Standard: quality systems; service delivery; human resources; health, safety, and environmental stewardship; and management commitment.

Additionally, compliance with the CIMS-GB criteria illustrates Brevard Achievement Center’s commitment to delivering green and sustainable cleaning programs. The CIMS-GB designation will give BAC the capability to provide green cleaning services that will assist its customers in achieving points under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED EB: O&M) green building rating system.

“We are extremely pleased to not only achieve the certification, but also be so highly rated by ISSA. Earning this certification demonstrates to our existing and potential custodial customers that we are committed to the delivery of environmentally preferable services that are not only designed to meet their needs and expectations, but also assist them in achieving points in the LEED process,” said BAC Vice President of Operations Wayne Wells.
