by Brianna Crandall — July 1, 2015—The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) recently announced Aidlin Darling Design in San Francisco, California, as the Best of Competition winner of the 42nd annual Interior Design Competition for its Windhover Contemplative Center in Stanford, California.

The Interior Design Competition, the longest-running annual competition hosted by IIDA, celebrates outstanding, innovative interior design/interior architecture projects that encourage new ideas and techniques in the design and furnishings of interior spaces. The award was presented as part of the IIDA celebration during the NeoCon 2015 contract furnishings show.

“The Windhover Contemplative Center is exquisitely designed and provides a serene and relaxing environment within Stanford University where students and visitors can relax and collect their thoughts, in an aesthetically pleasing setting,” IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP, said. “With the use of filtered lights and natural colored earth walls, Aidlin Darling Design has created a true sanctuary within a busy and bustling college campus, which is an incredibly difficult task. We are very pleased to honor Aidlin Darling Design as Best of Competition winner.”

Prior to the show, IIDA announced all the winners of its 42nd Interior Design Competition and 23rd Will Ching Design Competition. Juror Laura Guido-Clark, Affiliate IIDA (Principal, LG-C Design), commented on the entries, “This was a stellar year of inspiring entries and global thinking. It is wonderful to see the many ways materials are being incorporated in today’s interior environment in order to relay a brand and culture of a company. It’s inspiring that our design community is constantly thinking about how to positively impact our lives.”
