U.S. CAD, FM:Systems partner to integrate BIM for facilities managers

by Brianna Crandall — April 22, 2013—Facilities managers who are exploring the use of or are already using building information modeling (BIM) technology may benefit from a new industry partnership. BIM industry consultant U.S. CAD, one of Autodesk’s largest Authorized Gold Resellers, has just announced that it has joined the FM:Systems Certified Business Partner Program. FM:Systems is an innovator in the global integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) software market.

U.S. CAD has partnered with FM:Systems in order to meet the demands of owner/operators for a product that supports a full building lifecycle approach to managing their facilities. FM:Systems’ unique combination of configurability and BIM integration provides U.S. CAD with a solution to meet the demands of a variety of FM customers and enables them to take advantage of a platform that supports the building lifecycle from design through construction and into operations.

“Our facilities management customers have been looking for a BIM solution that could help them utilize their Revit models throughout the entire building lifecycle,” said U.S. CAD Vice President Jeff Rachel. “As the preferred Autodesk industry partner for BIM and FM it was a natural fit for us to add FM:Systems to our lineup of offerings to help us address this key customer need.”

Over the last few years, U.S. CAD has built a dedicated team of BIM production specialists who provide BIM modeling for the design and construction industries as well as the creation of BIM as-built models for a number of owner/operators. The addition of BIM-based facilities management tools will help these customers utilize their BIM model investment throughout the complete building lifecycle.

“We’re excited to have U.S. CAD bring their deep BIM expertise and outstanding reputation for customer service to our certified partner program,” said Kurt von Koch, Vice President of Sales at FM:Systems. “This partnership allows us to extend our ability to work with U.S CAD customers in key industries such as defense, higher education and healthcare.”

California-based U.S. CAD specializes in helping architectural, engineering, construction, and owner/operator (AECO)-industry customers integrate BIM, sustainable design and related technologies throughout their organizations to support their increasingly complex project delivery workflows. U.S. CAD’s services include process assessment and workflow consulting, knowledge assessment, flexible training options, project mentoring, BIM production and technical support services.
