A new FM association is currently being established in Norway because several small interest groups and associations have only partly touched the field of facilities management and thus severely inhibited its growth and understanding. Traditionally, these groups and associations have worked independently of one another, limiting the spread and development of competencies within the integrated facilities management area. Practitioners of FM now hope that the formation of the new association will bring about the coordination, development, and integration of facilities management in Norway. A board is currently being formed by members of the several, and smaller, existing organizations.
