ABB Automation Inc., a motor drives supplier to the US HVAC industry, recently added a side-by-side electronic bypass/drive for fitting into air-handling units and pumping packages. The new electronic bypass is fully integrated with ABB’s ACH 400 adjustable-speed AC drive, to form a single side-by-side unit that features a compact design made to fit all types of OEM equipment used in the HVAC industry. The unit protects the motor from input phase-loss conditions in both the drive and bypass modes, and it is the industry’s only drive with the built-in capability of controlling digital and analog outputs, according to a company release.
Among other design refinements, the bypass offers: voltage tolerance of 30%, without contactor dropout or coil failure; input power single-phase protection in both drive and bypass modes; membrane keypad for bypass operation and status display; fault-reset button for the selectable Class 20 or Class 30 electronic overload; multiple inputs and relay outputs; and selectable manual or automatic transfer from drive to bypass.
The bypass/drive is available in either a Plenum-rated NEMA 1 or NEMA 12 enclosure and can operate single-motor HVAC fan and pump applications up to fifty horsepower at 208480 VAC. For more information, contact ABB Automation.
