March 11, 2005—Security Services of America (SSA), a subsidiary of ABM Industries, Inc., has acquired Amguard Security & Patrol Services. ABM Industries is a large facility service contractor; Amguard is a provider of security officer services, primarily to high-rise, commercial, and residential structures.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Amguard’s marketing position in the metro areas of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC., eventually providing professional security services throughout the US.
ABM provides janitorial, parking, security, engineering, lighting, and mechanical services for institutional and retail facilities in the US and British Columbia, Canada. In addition to ABM Security Services, which includes American Commercial Security Services (ACSS) and SSA, the ABM Family of Services encompases ABM Janitorial, Ampco System Parking, Amtech Lighting, ABM Engineering, CommAir Mechanical, and ABM Facility Services.
