Leica Geosystems of Heerbrugg, Switzerland, is acquiring Cyra Technologies, Inc., which will give Cyra, as a wholly owned subsidiary, the ability to take further advantage of Leica Geosystems’ significant technical, manufacturing and business strengths to accelerate the growth of its Cyrax 3D Laser Scanning Systems and Cyclone software products. These products have been hailed (including 9 awards for technology innovation) for their ability to quickly capture and make available remarkably complete 3D geometric information of existing facilities for professionals in engineering, surveying, and construction. Cyrax products put existing factories and construction sites on an engineer’s desktop computer, in real-time, with full detail at low cost. According to the company early Cyrax users have already cited savings of millions of dollars on construction projects.
