AES Corp. offers real-time online metering for utilities customers

AES Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of wireless data communications networks, recently introduced the AES-IntelliNet real-time Internet Metering system, which captures electric, gas, or water meter data at 15-minute intervals and displays it on the World Wide Web. The data can be used by Commercial & Industrial (C&I) accounts in any metro area to manage energy trading, energy hedging, aggregation, peak load shaving, Time Of Use systems, remote optimization of energy use, and power quality in real time. To move the data from meters to the Internet, the system uses two-way AES-IntelliNet wireless routers instead of costlier public cellular or copper telephone lines. Data can be shared simultaneously with partners in the C&I energy supply chain and for demand management.
