June 9, 2006—The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Northern Nevada Chapter and Reno Magazine recently announced the winners of their inaugural design awards competition celebrating the unique design characteristics of the Northern Nevada area and the Eastern Sierra.
The program included projects from the past five years for both new and/or renovated projects. Projects were submitted in the categories of Residential, Commercial, Public, Interior Environment, Landscapes, and Sustainable Design.
The 2006 Honor winners are:
- Eastern Sierra Residence (Sustainable) by Arkin Tilt Architects;
- Nevada Museum of Art (Public) by Will Bruder Architects;
- Sugar Bowl Residence (Residential) by Mark Horton Architecture;
- Truckee Meadows Community College-Student Center (Public) by Sheehan VanWoert Bigotti Architects;
- Holy Cross Catholic Community (Public) by Sheehan VanWoert Bigotti Architects; and
- Scott Meek & Son Concrete Office Building (Commercial) by Sheehan VanWoert Bigotti Architects JLS Design.
