November 19, 2004—The AIA (American Institute of Architecture) Government Advocacy Team is offering a new online resource on federal rules and regulations that affect the practice of architecture. The AIA’s Federal Regulatory Monitor features information on agency rulemakings. The monitor links members with government Web sites that allow for public comments on proposed rules, and it connects to the Federal Register, the government’s daily publication for federal rules and other activities. The site also links to a free tutorial about the rulemaking process.
“Federal agency rules and regulations have an enormous impact on architects, from Department of Justice guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act to changes in the procurement process for A/E services,” Says AIA Senior Director of Federal Affairs Tom Wolfe. “The AIA’s Federal Regulatory Monitor empowers our members to study and speak out about rules that affect their profession.
