August 29, 2007—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently updated its list of the top 10 federal government purchasers of green power (as of July 2007) in EPA’s Green Power Partnership.
EPA says these purchases help drive the development of additional green power resources nationwide. The combined green power purchases of these federal agencies amount to more than 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, equivalent to the electricity needed to the power more than 100,000 average American homes each year, adds EPA.
The only major change in the quarterly list is that the US Mint/Philadelphia lost its 8th place ranking to the US NPS/Statue of Liberty NM and Ellis Island.
