May 18, 2005—Albemarle Corporation has announced that it will increase prices worldwide of SAYTEX flame retardants used in construction and furnishing applications, and increase the Americas prices for all of its ANTIBLAZE flame retardants effective July 1, 2005 or as contracts allow.
Prices for the ANTIBLAZE flame retardant product line (chloroalkyl phosphates, phosphates, and phosphonates) will increase in the Americas by 12 cents a pound. Prices for the SAYTEX RB-79 family of products (brominated diols) will also increase by 12 cents a pound.
Prices for SAYTEX HP 900 flame retardant (hexabromocyclododecane) and SAYTEX BCL 462 flame retardant (dibromoethyldibromocyclohexane) will increase globally by five percent.
These SAYTEX and ANTIBLAZE flame retardants help prevent fire in rigid foams used in insulation; flexible foams in furnishings; cellulosic products such as oriented strand board (OSB), particle board and other wood-based panels; and/or paper products and other packaging materials.
