July 14, 2010—Albion Road Clinic in North Shields is the first building in the U.K. to achieve post-construction certification under BREEAM Healthcare 2008 with a “Very Good” rating for its renovated facility.
The facility, operated by North Tyneside Primary Healthcare Trust, meets the Department of Health’s requirement for all refurbishments to achieve a rating of at least “Very Good,” the third out of five rating levels.
Features of the refurbishment that scored well under BREEAM include the provision of water efficient bathroom fittings, the use of responsibly sourced materials, and a new Building Management System to reduce energy consumption.
