Alliance to Save Energy announces three new board members

August 25, 2006—The Alliance to Save Energy’s Board of Directors has elected three new members to its ranks: James E. Rogers, president and CEO of Duke Energy; John Fielder, the new president of Southern California Edison (SCE); and Bob Malone, chairman and president of BP America.

Fielder replaces outgoing SCE President Bob Foster, who remains on the Alliance board in his new capacity as mayor of Long Beach, Calif., and Bob Malone replaces Ross Pillari, who has retired after 32 years of service to BP, while Rogers is an addition to the board.

Before the merger of Duke Energy and Cinergy Corp., Jim Rogers served as Cinergy’s chairman and chief executive officer for more than 11 years, as well as on the Cinergy board. In addition to serving as CEO, Rogers also is a director for Duke Energy.

As president of SCE since October 2005, John Fielder heads one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. Previously, as a senior vice president, he was responsible for developing and implementing regulatory policies and managing proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission and other regulatory agencies, as well as for the utility’s environmental affairs. Fielder began his Edison career in 1970 and held a variety of supervisory and management positions. He is a member of the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation and serves on the boards of directors of Miller Children’s Hospital and Aquarium of the Pacific.

Bob Malone was named chairman and president of BP America, Inc. effective July 1, 2006. Based in Houston, he serves as BP’s chief representative in the United States. He also is an executive vice president of BP p.l.c., the world’s second largest oil and gas company, and is a member of BP’s most senior executive management team.

The Alliance to Save Energy is a coalition of prominent business, government, environmental, and consumer leaders who promote the efficient and clean use of energy worldwide to benefit consumers, the environment, the economy, and national security. For more information, see the Web site.
