Allina Hospitals selects KI Engage ergonomic task chair based on staff preference

April 26, 2006—Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Minneapolis, Minnesota, contracted with KI for its Engage ergonomic task chairs for its offices. The decision was made after employees tested four chairs from different suppliers. After a two-month period employees at each Allina site evaluated each task chair and provided written comments. Allina used the feedback to select KI.

Allina selected Engage for use in its corporate offices, clinics, and nursing stations. For the nursing stations, Allina knew that the chairs would be shared by multiple users, so they had to be easily adjustable and comfortable for a broad range of users. For this reason, KI worked with Allina to customize Engage chairs specifically for the nursing stations.

Engage offers the ergonomic features Allina was looking for, including: adjustable back height and seat depth; height adjustable arms with 360-degree pivoting arm caps; and an articulating back with the ability to lock it in place. In addition, a layer of “memory” foam covers the top of the chair’s standard contoured foam seat, providing extra comfort and stress point relief.

Allina recently completed construction of Allina Commons, the company’s new headquarters, which will house 1,800 employees. Allina Hospitals & Clinics is the largest health system in Minnesota.
