August 15, 2008—Allsteel announces that it has achieved another major environmental benchmark, certifying product to the current Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) Sustainability Standard.
Allsteel is among the first companies to certify its environmental performance claims through the Scientific Certification System (SCS) Sustainable Choice program, according to the company. Its Align, Concensys and Terrace 2.6 and Terrance 3.4 workstation systems have met the qualifications for Silver level, Allsteel says.
BIFMA’s new sustainability standard provides measurable market-based definitions of progressively more sustainable furniture. The standard addresses environmental, economic and social aspects throughout the supply chain based on materials, energy and atmosphere, human and ecosystem health, and social responsibility.
