January 23, 2008—Allsteel Inc., a leading contract furniture designer and manufacturer, announced that its Merge Powerbay table was honored by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design with its 2007 GOOD DESIGN Award in the furniture category.

The new Merge Powerbay is part of a complete collection of tables that makes more efficient use of time and space in informal conference rooms, private offices and even workstations, by offering better work and collaboration solutions for shrinking workspaces and technology management, says Allsteel.

Merge Powerbay tables have a hidden power bay and top that easily slides open and closed storing and providing immediate access to the most common collaboration technology tools. The tables also provide wire and cord management, eliminating the snakes nest of wires found on most conference room table tops.

Founded in 1950, the Chicago Athenaeum’s Good Design program recognizes designers and manufacturers for advancing new and innovative product concepts and stretching the envelope beyond standard product and consumer design.
