ALM to expand its green building offerings

November 22, 2006—ALM’s Real Estate Media Division has announced a new multi-level initiative for 2007 that will focus on the rapidly expanding “green building” and sustainable development sectors. The initiative will include expanded coverage, new features and special supplements in REM’s Real Estate Forum and Real Estate New York magazines, as well as a targeted conference on green building, as part of the RealShare Conference Series.

The expanded magazine editorial content and conference will examine green building solutions, including planning, design and new building materials and systems, as well as cutting-edge projects and the financial implications and benefits of going green, says the company.

A recent study of large US corporations, conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction for Siemens, revealed that business leaders overwhelmingly believe that green building will emerge as a prominent corporate trend over the next three years, and that 40 percent of those surveyed believe that green building is of high importance to their organizations, with 75 percent citing escalating energy costs as the key driver behind their interest.

REM will add a new quarterly green building supplement to Real Estate New York, to be published with the March, June, September and November/December 2007 issues of the magazine. Real Estate Forum will expand ongoing coverage on this topic and add a special editorial feature in its April 2007 issue. Editorial coverage will focus on a wide range of related topics, from new products and technologies, to planning, design, marketing, management and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. The new RealShare Green Building Conference, bringing experts in a variety of related fields together with owners, designers, facility managers and tenants, will take place in December 2007 in New York City.
