Ameren Data & Metering Specialties (AmerenDMS), a provider of metering and information-based solutions, has partnered with eBIDenergy.com—a facilitator of online energy procurement, data acquisition, and data analysis for commercial and industrial businesses—to simplify the process of energy curtailment, in which customers can reduce power use during peak periods and quickly resell or redistribute the curtailed energy.
To achieve simplification, the companies have developed Web-based software that allows customers to view their baseline energy prices next to the offer prices that traders post hourly. Customers can also review and calculate the success of the curtailment, as well as review their estimated “earnings” online. The goal of simplification is to increase customer participants.
AmerenDMS and eBIDenergy.com will test the software during a pilot program to be conducted this summer in New York and funded by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority. The pilot program will run June 1 through Sept. 30, and will involve fifteen customers of New York-based Advantage Energy.
