September 24, 2003—American Bicycle Security Company, a provider of bicycle security systems, has recently added another option to be used on their bike lockers. The company now offers two sophisticated electronic locking systems, the Magstripe Card, and the iButton.
The lock control electronics, made by CompX Security Products, feature a non-volatile memory that stores 89 user codes, 11 supervisory codes, provides an audit trail, and can be master coded. With the optional LockView audit trail software, the system can remember 750 cabinet access attempts along with the date, time, and users name. The programming is a numeric keypad, or optional portable programmer.
The Magstripe Card provides secure confirmations with existing mag stripe cards, including credit cards. This is a benefit for those who are looking for a short-term bike parking solution without a long-term obligation. The iButton, uses a special key depending on the needs of the particular program, facilitators and users can select from a user key, master key, audit trail key, or time programming key.
