March 24, 2003—PERMALIGHT photoluminescent markings are activated by daylight, fluorescent, and incandescent lighting, and emit a long-lasting luminance in full darkness (power outages; building fires with dense smoke; natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes).
According to American PERMALIGHT, a manufacturer and supplier of photoluminescent safety markings for more than 25 years, PERMALIGHT safety markings include photoluminescent epoxy paint, which was installed in the World Trade Center New York emergency staircases in 1994 and was reportedly praised in aiding the evacuation of thousands of building occupants September 11, 2001.
Glowing tapes, signs, directional arrows, anti-skid tape, floor inserts, bumper guards, warning chains, and caulking are just a few of the many different PERMALIGHT photoluminescent markers that help in creating a continuous outlining of the escape path from the place of occupancy inside a building all the way to the safe place outside.
American PERMALIGHT’s photoluminescent exit signs were tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and are listed to standard UL924 for “Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment” for US and Canadian use. Additionally, the non-electrical signs are NFPA10—Life Safety Code compliant and OSHA-compliant. PERMALIGHT EXIT signs are non-radioactive and non-toxic, virtually maintenance-free as they do not have any light bulbs to burn out and do not require any electrical wiring. They are installed with four screws for flat wall mount and with two brackets for ceiling or side-wall mount.
