American Power Conversion (APC) recently added a new portable 7,200 BTU air conditioning unit to its line of products and services. The unit, Network AIR™ 1000, is engineered to safeguard servers and other sensitive office equipment from exposure to excessive heat by providing supplemental, emergency or temporary cooling in a small space, such as a server closet or computer room.
The unit is especially helpful, the company says, for buildings that shut down their air conditioning systems during off hours or over weekends.
Network AIR 1000 is UL listed and features an electronic control pad with LCD display for easy use and configuration. The unit draws low amperage, making it cost-efficient to operate. It will be available in North America in the second quarter of 2001. Estimated resale price is $925.
