America’s 25 largest school districts use SMART interactive whiteboards to improve education

June 23, 2004—SMART Technologies recently reported that its SMART Board interactive whiteboards are installed in classrooms in each of the 25 largest school districts in the US, including New York City Public Schools (New York), San Diego City Schools (California), Houston Independent School District (Texas), Miami-Dade County School District (Florida), and Fairfax County Public Schools (Virginia). The company says SMART products are used in most of the nation’s top 500 school districts and in every US state, with education customers including Tennessee’s Rhea County Department of Education, the Vermont Institute for Science, Math & Technology, and Harvard University. They are also used in 65 countries worldwide.

SMART Board interactive whiteboards are used in classrooms, briefing rooms, and boardrooms around the world, helping people to collaborate effectively whether they are in the same room or in another location. Simply by touching the large interactive display, users can access and control any computer application or multimedia platform, including the Internet and CD-ROMs. Users can also write over applications in digital ink and then edit, save, print, or post their notes to a Web site for future reference.

Since launching the world’s first interactive whiteboard in 1991, SMART Technologies has reportedly included educators in its product development process. To further support technology integration with curriculum, SMART provides free, classroom-ready, digital content to its customers through EDCompass, SMART’s online community for educators.
