September 6, 2004—American Power Conversion (APC) has announced its latest version of the InfraStruXure architecture that incorporates an integrated power generation system. The “revolutionary” InfraStruXure with integrated power generation combines a generator and an integrated automatic transfer switch (ATS) and distribution panel to provide extended on-site backup power for data centers. The new system offers increased availability, improved speed of deployment, and decreased cost, says APC.
The new InfraStruXure system provides increased availability for IT environments ranging from five racks to 100 racks such as small to medium businesses or enterprise businesses incorporating a distributed data center design. With this new system, APC now offers its customers on-site power generation to power their data centers for an extended time in the event of a power outage.
The new system is part of the InfraStruXure architecture that integrates power, cooling, management, and services for on-demand network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI). To help ensure availability of the power generation system, APC has developed management solutions that monitor all critical generator fluid levels.
The new InfraStruXure with integrated power generation will be available in North America in early October 2004. For more information visit APC or call 800/877-4080.
