The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA) has co-published a comprehensive guide to maintaining and managing grounds and landscaping operations. The Operational Guidelines for Grounds Management book includes chapters on environmental stewardship, broadcast and zone maintenance, grounds staffing guidelines, contracted services, position descriptions, benchmarking, and environmental issues and laws. Seven appendices list software for grounds management, sample position descriptions, extensive glossary, directory of grounds magazines, list of professional organizations, cooperative extension service specialists, and bibliography for further reading.
The 159-page guide—published jointly by APPA, National Recreation and Park Association, and Professional Grounds Management Society, with assistance and support from American Public Works Association—is available now from APPA for $75 for members and $125 for non-members.
