July 5, 2004—FM Desktop by Applied Spatial Technologies (AST) continues to evolve and he new Release 5.8 includes a number of technical improvements and several new features. Every new feature included in release 5.8 is in direct response to our customers’ suggestions.
Among major feature enhancements:
- Occupant Account Assignments—automatically assigns an occupant’s associated account to a room whenever the occupant is moved.
- Occupant Equipment Assignments—when an occupant is moved, the equipment moves with that person.
- Move Management Improvements—when an occupant move is added to a project, the occupant’s assigned equipment is automatically added to the project.
- Automatically generate work orders for project related moves—when occupants move within a project, the occupants’ equipment moves with them.
- Label Aliases—The single, most often requested customization to FM Desktop is label changes. Changing the term Account to Department or Occupant to Staff. FM Desktop 5.8 automates this entire process, and goes well beyond simple label changes.
Users can use the new Alias table to change virtually every term used in FM Desktop to meet specific company needs. Users simply edit the term in the table and every form, report, toolbar, and dropdown list is updated with the user’s terminology.
