July 30, 2004—USA Technologies announced that APS Energy Services (APS), Arizona’s largest and longest-serving electric utility, has purchased a large quantity of its PlugMisers for installation in Arizona’s School Districts on computer monitors in school computer laboratories to reduce energy consumption and monitor ware.
The PlugMiser will automatically shut down the monitors when the machines are not in use, reducing energy costs. APS, which serves more than 900,000 customers in 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties, is the largest subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation. “The PlugMisers will save on energy, wear and tear, and allow the schools to invest their funds in more important areas of education,” said Tim Wygant, Director of Sales, Western Division, USA Technologies.
PlugMiser is an occupancy based power controller for all kinds of personal and office equipment, including computers and monitors, printers, personal heaters, radios, video arcade games, and more.
Also included among USA Technologies’ portfolio of energy management solutions are the VendingMiser(R), which can reduce the power consumption in a vending machine by an average of 46 percent, the CoolerMiser(TM), which controls energy in glass-front coolers, and SnackMiser(TM) which reduces the amount of electricity used by non-refrigerated snack vending machines.
