AQS and GREENGUARD release first report on microbial resistance of indoor materials

December 1, 2004—Air Quality Sciences, indoor air quality firm and testing partner of the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI), has released its first report on microbial resistance of indoor materials. Prepared for the GEI, an independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification Program, the report outlines the test method and initial validation data obtained on interior materials.

GEI is conducting a one-year pilot study intended to establish a standard (based on ASTM D 6329-98) for comparing a wide range of building materials.

The study is open to all interior product manufacturers as stakeholders in the development of the method and ranking system. Leading manufacturers of insulation, adhesives, and textiles have already signed up to participate.

The first report of the GREENGUARD Pilot Program for Microbial Resistance is available online from GEI, or by calling 800/427-9681.
