ARAMARK Harrison Lodging receives two environmental awards

November 1, 2006—ARAMARK Harrison Lodging (AHL) has been recognized with two prestigious awards for environmental stewardship, the company recently announced. The 2006 Environmental Achievement Award was received from the US Department of the Interior (DOI) and a 2006 Governor’s Pride in Arizona Award from Arizona Clean and Beautiful was also awarded.

The DOI’s award (ARAMARK’s second in a row) recognizes Doyon/ARAMARK, a joint venture between Doyon Limited, one of 13 Native regional corporations, and ARAMARK for its environmental management programs at Denali National Park and Preserve. Doyon/ARAMARK has implemented an environmental management system that includes recycling, sustainable cuisine, an environmentally preferable purchasing policy, energy and resource conservation, and a reduction of solid waste and harmful emissions.

ARAMARK-managed Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas was awarded first place by Arizona Clean and Beautiful in the environmental leadership category of the Governor’s Pride in Arizona Awards for its environmentally preferable purchasing and recycling programs and for installing environmentally friendly EcoRooms featuring over a dozen guestroom products that are energy efficient, water efficient, waste reducing, non-toxic, or biodegradable.

AHL, a division of ARAMARK, provides meeting and recreational support services to conference and corporate training centers, specialty hotels, national and state parks, resorts, and other tourist destinations throughout the US.
