February 14, 2005—The Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI) has awarded Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification to Arborites high-pressure decorative laminate. Three laminates were tested for chemical emissions under Greenguards stringent standards and test methods for low emitting products. Commercial, residential, hospitality, and healthcare projects, as well as furniture manufacturers, can take advantage of Arborite’s Greenguard-certified low emitting surfacing with no special ordering or extra cost.
Arborite laminate can be used as a surface on Greenguard-certified office furniture to obtain a credit for Low Emitting Office Furniture in the Indoor Environmental Quality Section of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Rating System for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI).
The Greenguard Certification Program helps building, design, and specifying professionals and consumers create clean indoor air by providing an online guide to scientifically tested low emitting products and helpful tools and resources. Products certified by the GEI help to significantly reduce indoor air pollution. GREENGUARD also provides online, printable certificates for each and every GREENGUARD Certified Product to make project submissions simple.
The Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI) is an independent, non-profit organization that oversees the Greenguard Certification Program. The Institute’s goal is to improve public health and quality of life by helping manufacturers build better and safer products. The Greenguard Certification Program is the only industry independent certification program for low emitting products, according to the organization.
