ArcSight partners with SANS Institute for enterprise security research project

May 31, 2002—ArcSight, a provider of enterprise security management solutions, announced that The SANS (System Administration, Networking and Security) Institute has invited the company to participate in the launch of a new research project focused on the emerging enterprise security market.

This educational event will take place at The SANS Washington D.C. Conference, May 6-11, 2002, and enable the conferences 500 expected security professionals to experience enterprise-focused approaches to detecting and thwarting network attacks in a live “test lab” environment.

The SANS Institute, a cooperative research and education organization for the information security community, has initiated the Enterprise Security Management research project to examine how organizations are addressing the challenge of making informed security decisions in the face of the unprecedented volume of alarms and alerts from sources including routers, firewalls, anti-virus consoles, intrusion detection systems, and more. Over the coming months, the project will address these challenges, educate the IT community about enterprise security, as well as explore solutions for bringing greater integration, efficiency, and performance to the security management process.

The ArcSight software solution enables companies to put an enterprise-wide framework around their security point products by centralizing and automating the control, analysis, use, and management of all security-relevant data. Unlike security products that either monitor data or provide historical reporting, ArcSight monitors, correlates, investigates, resolves, and reports on security events across the network.
