June 29, 2007—Armstrong says its new WoodWorks Ekos Walls is the industry’s first wood wall system that has no added formaldehyde and no detectable formaldehyde emissions.
More affordable and with shorter lead times than custom millwork, the new environmentally friendly wall panels are available as a standard product in four rich, natural wood finishes Ekos Maple, Mahogany, Light Cherry and Dark Cherry. The panels are ideal for conference rooms, board rooms, executive offices and lobbies, says Armstrong.
WoodWorks Ekos wall panels are manufactured from materials very different than those normally used in composite wood products, says Armstrong. They are made from a combination of real wood veneers and an acoustical, mineral fiber substrate that contains no wood fibers. The result is a lightweight, real wood product with no added formaldehyde in the adhesives and clear, no-solvent coatings on the surface finishes.
