“Armstrong’s sound systems deliver sound masking, paging, and music simultaneously”

A comprehensive new sound system integrates with acoustical ceilings to deliver a combination of sound masking, music, and paging through a common set of speakers. And they look like ordinary ceiling panels. Called i-ceilings by Armstrong, the new system won a Gold Medal in the Best of NeoCon 2001 product competition at The Merchandise Mart.

In most applications, paging and music speakers are typically cut into and placed in the ceiling; sound masking speakers are hung in the plenum above the ceiling, bouncing the electronic masking sound back down through the ceiling plane. The Armstrong Sound Panels work differently. Panels are installed directly into the ceiling plane, radiating sound downward in an omni-directional pattern.
