by Brianna Crandall — June 17, 2020 — Humanscale, a provider of high-performance ergonomic tools for the workplace, has recently launched its new Humanscale Hub, a virtual destination for the company’s products, tours and videos, as well as new WellGuard Separation Panels to protect workstations and a new wireless charging base for its Nova task light.
Humanscale Hub
The new Humanscale Hub virtual destination features showroom tours, product announcements, a library of video content, and an inspiration gallery. The Humanscale Hub will be updated with new content regularly to better inform and engage with customers in an increasingly digital world.
While many customers are currently unable to tour showrooms in person, Humanscale’s virtual showroom will allow visitors to virtually explore the space and engage with featured products.
The Humanscale Hub will also feature a video library. At launch, content will range from ergonomic tips for working from home; a celebration of the iconic Freedom chair, designed for Humanscale by Niels Diffrient; a showcase of Humanscale’s online ergonomics software ergoIQ; and a demonstration of its revolutionary line of monitor arms. New videos will be continuously uploaded in the coming weeks.
The video library will also highlight live NeoCon programming with partners, such as: From Ocean to Office: A New Path for Plastic, A Conversation featuring Jane Abernethy, Humanscale’s chief sustainability officer.
In addition, the Humanscale Inspiration Gallery features a curated gallery of images selected to inspire the design community and reveal creative design solutions. The lush selection of lifestyle images showcases Humanscale designs in a wide array of contract and residential environments.

WellGuard Separation Panels
Humanscale launched a new product solution to provide personal protection as well as visual and acoustical privacy as companies return to work after the COVID-19 shutdowns. The new WellGuard Separation Panels can help protect employee health by reducing the airborne transmission of viral particles between workstations.
As workplaces begin to reopen to employees with an elevated focus on safety, separation panels are likely to be a necessity in every office per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recently issued recommendations for businesses and employers that suggest “modifying the workspace” or implementing “physical barriers such as partitions” to maintain social distancing.
David Wong, Humanscale vice president of Product Development Design and Engineering, stated:
COVID-19 has forever changed the workplace. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be challenged to rethink how we behave, utilize and design traditional workspaces. For saturated desking areas, separation panels are essential to reduce airflow across individual workstations.
Designed to accommodate a wide variety of environments, Humanscale’s WellGuard Separation Panels are designed to be customizable, easy to install and highly durable. Available in six mounting options, permanent or removable, the separation panels accommodate a variety of workstations and can easily attach to any new or preexisting worksurface, says the company.
The plastic resin (PETG) panels are available in a clear or frosted finish and, unlike acrylic panels, will not crack, discolor, or degrade after being cleaned with heavy-duty chemicals, says Humanscale. Offering an enduring and sustainable design solution, the plastic resin panels utilize the same plastic as number 1 PET resin, the most recycled plastic globally, with half the lifecycle carbon footprint of acrylic.
The Felted PET Panels utilize this same PET resin and are available in light or dark gray. Both PETG and felted PET panels are available in various widths and heights to ensure proper coverage in any workspace.
Protection from audio and visual distractions
In addition to the safety benefits, the panels can help to reduce workplace distractions. Studies show that constant peripheral interruptions in the workplace can have a negative effect on employee well-being and productivity, notes Humanscale. If specified in either frosted plastic resin or felted PET, WellGuard Separation Panels can help to reduce visual distractions where needed. For offices that prefer visibility and the open office aesthetic, clear plastic resin panels are also available.
Additionally, WellGuard Panels in felted PET can help to reduce noise through active sound absorption. By reducing audio and visual distractions, WellGuard Separation Panels accommodate focused work and can help to boost efficiency and wellbeing in the open office.
Nova task light with new wireless charging base
Now available with a new wireless charging base, the Nova task light offers great adaptability in a striking sculptural form, says Humanscale. Featuring a custom lens and a large-array multi-chip LED, Nova creates soft, glare-free light.
This inventive design protects the eyes against strain, faithfully renders colors and produces a single shadow on the work surface, adds the company. Offering easy, precise control, Nova brightens and dims with the touch of a finger. Its advanced occupancy sensors automatically turn the light off when no one is around, to conserve energy.
