This exterior lighting collection can help with wayfinding and provide a safe, welcoming environment

by Brianna Crandall — September 20, 2021 — Landscape Forms, a Michigan-based designer and manufacturer of high-design LED lighting, site furniture, structure, and accessories used around the world, has just introduced Profile, the company’s newest exterior lighting line. The family of lights, designed in collaboration with award-winning landscape lighting designer Linnaea Tillett and Tillett Lighting Design Associates, includes an area light, accent light, column light, and performance, wayfinding, and unlit perimeter bollards, making Profile a single lighting family that effectively illuminates an array of spaces, from large, open areas and narrow pathways to landscape beds and building entrances.

Teknion Chief Creative Officer Kirt Martin stated:

Linnaea Tillett’s expertise in lighting design merged with our expertise in product design is a marriage of form and function. Linnaea has a deep understanding of how light gives context to its environment. It was important to have her perspective and vision to truly innovate in this category.

While the Profile light’s I-beam structure is a familiar element of construction, the form has been refined and presented in a new way, creating a refreshing and versatile light that takes a thoughtful approach to what is — or is not — being lit. Profile is an architectural statement with a great deal of utility and function. It’s a result of Landscape Forms’ high-quality craftsmanship and expertise in lighting technology, engineering, and manufacturing.

A number of options for the area, accent, and column lights provide a canvas on which to create beautiful and exacting exterior lighting schemes. Linnaea Tillett pointed out:

Public and social spaces are being asked to do more and more. From playgrounds and food courts to performance spaces, such variety calls for landscape architects to think in more modular ways on how to light environments. Profile responds to that modular thinking with an aesthetically and functionally versatile design.

The area, accent, and column lights are offered in four heights and four color temperatures. The area light has three distributions, two outputs, and a clear and diffused lens; accent and column have a standard output and diffused lens. A 10-foot-tall base unit, two-foot-tall add-on sections, and foot lights further tailor the lights’ performance and aesthetic.

Three bollards, including an unlit perimeter option, define boundaries and subtly light paths and landscaping. All lights are offered in a full color palette finished with Landscape Forms’ proprietary Pangard II HAPS-, VOC-, and lead-free polyester powdercoat.

Teknion Lighting President Jordan Agustin added:

In designing Profile, we weren’t just thinking about a luminaire; we were thinking about new and interesting ways to light spaces with a beautiful object. The luminaire employs architectural lighting techniques often featured in interior living spaces. Profile brings these techniques to the outdoor public realm with an altogether different experience for a light to create warm, welcoming environments.
