January 7, 2004—ASIS International (ASIS), the organization for security management professionals, has purchased the Protection of Assets (POA) Manual. This resource, which has been in existence since 1974, is considered to be the “bible” for the security industry.
A team of security experts under the guidance and direction of Michael Knoke, CPP, will handle the book’s editorial content. “We are pleased to have the POA Manual under our direct management,” said Michael J. Stack, the executive director of ASIS. “With the knowledge and backgrounds of our expert editorial consultants, particularly Mike Knoke, we feel we can enhance the reputation of the manual to ensure that it maintains its place as the primary resource for security professionals, no matter for which corporation, government agency, or service organization they work, or for which particular security specialty.”
On Feb. 12, ASIS will begin fulfilling orders via its bookstore. Customers can purchase by telephoning ASIS Membership Services at 703/519-6200, faxing to 703/518-1473, or through the ASIS Web site.
It is expected that the nature of ASIS’ subscription service, as well as the content, delivery, and frequency of POA updates will be determined by the end of June 2004. The four-volume set will be sold for $485 to ASIS members and $630 to non-members.
