ASIS guidelines help businesses prepare for emergencies

February 28, 2005—ASIS International (ASIS), the organization for security professionals worldwide, has finalized its Business Continuity Guideline, a priority for businesses that are concerned about emergency preparedness, crisis management and disaster recovery.

The free guideline provides step-by-step preparation and activation guidance, including readiness, prevention, response, recovery/resumption, testing and training, and evaluation and maintenance, says the organization. It also includes an easy-to-understand appendix called “Business Continuity Checklist.”

The ASIS Commission on Guidelines was established in early 2001 by ASIS in response to a need for guidelines regarding security issues in the United States. For more information about the five ASIS guidelines published to date or those in development, visit Guidelines.
