April 19, 2006—The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has selected American Hydrotech, Inc., Emory Knoll Farms, Inc./Greenroofplants.com, ForestWorld, Green Roof Blocks/Saint Louis Metalworks Company, Ohio Gratings, Outdoor Illumination, and Dow Chemical Company to provide products and services for its green roof in downtown Washington, D.C.
American Hydrotech, Inc. will provide the green roof assembly, including the roofing membrane and insulation, and is also assisting with technical expertise. Emory Knoll Farms, Inc./Greenroofplants.com will provide the green roof plantings, or sedum, for extensive portions of the roof, and assisted the landscape architects with the planting plan and testing. ForestWorld will provide a sustainably forested wood product known for its durability in outdoor use, for the project’s decking. Green Roof Blocks/Saint Louis Metalworks Company has been selected to provide the green roof edging and drains.
Ohio Gratings will provide the aluminum grating for the walking surface on the roof, which will allow plants to grow beneath it, maximizing the planting area of the roof. Outdoor Illumination was selected to work with the landscape architects to design the lighting and will provide fixtures. Dow Chemical Company is providing the extruded polystyrene insulation.

The ASLA green roof will serve as a demonstration project, showcasing the environmental and aesthetic value of green roofs. The project is scheduled for dedication on April 26, 2006.
