October 21, 2002—The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently published the ASSE Refresher Guide, a study guide for safety professionals preparing to take the Safety Fundamentals examination conducted by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Candidates who pass this exam are awarded the Associate Safety Professional designation.
The two-volume guide has been updated to contain the latest best safety practices and current codes, regulations, and standards used by safety professionals.
Previously titled the CSP Refresher Guide, the new ASSE Refresher Guide follows the changed BCSP exam format, focusing on management, engineering, communication, professional conduct, and ethics in the safety, health, and environmental field. Volume one provides important information on such topics as mechanical and electrical hazards, manual materials handling, fire protection, industrial hygiene, quality control, environmental compliance, facilities and equipment design, construction, transportation, disaster and contingency planning, and professional conduct. Volume two contains over 800 questions on these same topics that comprise the four domains of the examination.
The ASSE Refresher Guide, order number 331196, is $269.95 for ASSE members and $369.95 for non-members. To purchase or learn more, contact ASSE at 847/699-2929.
