Asset Skills publishes skills needs analysis for FM industry, others

April 7, 2006—Asset Skills has published its Skills Needs Analysis for the FM, cleaning, property, and housing industries, setting out an assessment of employers’ current and future skills needs.

The analysis provides information on the size of these industries, qualification levels, needs and projected growth up to 2014.

Some of the key findings within the report include:

  • The Asset Skills footprint covers approximately 628,000 workers in the UK of which 56% are in property and housing industries, 38% in industrial cleaning and 7% in facilities management.
  • 93% of all Asset Skills workplaces are small, employing between 1-10 people. This is about 10% higher than the average across all sectors within the British economy.
  • Approximately 20% of the workforce across the four sectors has no qualification, with almost a third achieving NVQ level 1 or 2.

Asset Skills is the Sector Skills Council for the Cleaning and Facilities Management industries.
