GraphStore has just announced that its AssetX development toolkit has enabled Information Resources Inc. (IRI), a provider of marketing solutions to the consumer goods industry, to develop a new merchandising tool in record time. IRI wanted to take a totally new approach to building a macro merchandising tool for the retail industry by overcoming previous reliance on underlying conventional CAD engines.
By using AssetX, a feature rich, ActiveX control (OCX) component from GraphStore, IRI has incorporated graphical asset management functionality into its own data analysis and reporting tools in an easy-to-use, intuitive way. Graphical and non-graphical data can be combined and analyzed to give a complete picture of the profitability of retail space usage.
IRI’s development team was able to work in parallel in a familiar Visual Basic environment. AssetX’s architecture allowed separate streams of code to be integrated seamlessly and without difficulty. As a result, overall development time was significantly reduced and the complete product, Apollo TotalStore, was brought to market in only eleven months, and working with a full range of international operating systems.
