AT&T Buyer’s Guide helps businesses choose the right local telecom services provider

August 28, 2002—A new guide from AT&T can help businesses evaluate local telecommunications service providers and make the best choice for their needs.

Competition has created a range of choices in the local telecom services market. AT&T’s Local Telecommunications Services Buyer’s Guide is designed to help businesses ask the right questions so they can make a smart buying decision.

Research indicates that businesses welcome the ability to choose a local-service provider, says AT&T, just as they can select a carrier for long distance. In one study, nearly one-third of corporate customers said they’d be likely to switch local carriers in the next 12 months if there were a viable alternative.

In most cities, there are alternative providers of local phone service. AT&T suggests companies evaluate the viability of the provider, its service offers, coverage area, price, and of course, customer service and support.

“AT&T is taking the lead and lending its industry expertise to businesses by offering these tips for choosing a local service provider,” said Mike Lauricella, program manager for small and medium business market analysis at the Yankee Group. “There’s never been a more challenging time, and more important time, for businesses to make smart telecom services purchasing decisions.”
