Australian building service association embarks on best practices project

December 22, 2003—Evolving from the Building Service Contractors Association of Australias Strategic Plan, “Project BSCAA Best Practice” was launched mid-December by the Associations Victorian divisions president John Lazzari. “Victoria has taken a lead role in the area of public liability and workers compensation,” he told members and guests at the Associations Christmas luncheon. A committee has been established under the guidance of John Grant (Consolidated Property Services), Neil Jackson (BSCAA Victoria executive officer) and the BSCAAs risk manager Norine Cruse. They are complemented with key stakeholders from the insurance (Marsh, Proclaim and Allianz), superannuation (ARF) and BSC industries.

Every BSCAA Victorian member will be visited by Jackson and Cruse early 2004 and they will present the projects process, expectations and costs. “Those committing to be part of the project will be given an identity in the form of being part of BSCAA Best Practice. Clients will be told as will governments and the Property Council. “Members will be grouped and will undertake to implement and maintain an OH&S system involving both internal and external verification,” explained Lazzari.
