April 23, 2004—The Building Service Contractors Association of Australias NSW branch has alerted property owner/managers to impending contract rate increases. Under the Cleaning & Building Services Contractors (State) Award wage rates will increase from the first full pay period on or after 1st July 2004. The year two increases are 1.6% for part-time cleaners and 3.26% for full-time cleaners and all work related allowances.
And, under the provisions of the Workers Compensation Amendment Act 2002, employers will be grouped for workers compensation premium purposes from 30th June 2004. “Member companies of this Association that have been splitting their workforce into multiple legal entities with separate policies will be affected by this new legislation,” stated a missive from BSCAA NSW executive director Ron Jeffs.
