November 27, 2002—Autodesk Inc. has received the December 2002 CADENCE Editors’ Choice Award for Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk’s 3D mechanical design software and Autodesk VIZ 4, its visualization tool for building industry and other design professionals.
CADENCE editors selected the products for the superior innovation of the technologies, the quality of the products and their impact on the day-to-day lives of CAD experts and practitioners, and the development direction signaled by the products’ feature palettes.
Autodesk Inventor 6 software delivers new features based on customer feedback. The 3D mechanical design software has more than 200 major productivity and drawing enhancements, adding industry-specific solutions such as routing tools and weldments to meet customers’ specific industrial machinery and electro-mechanical design needs.
This release also includes innovative shape description tools driven by the Autodesk ShapeManager kernel that lets the user seamlessly mix solids and surfaces to create stylized, complex, and sculpted parts.
Tailoring the latest Discreet 3ds max(TM) professional 3D animation software solution for design professionals, Autodesk VIZ 4 introduces lighting simulation capabilities directly within the application, allowing designers to generate richer, more compelling images that more accurately convey design intent under different lighting conditions. This increases the value of 3D visualization for exploring, validating, and communicating design options to clients as well as to the extended project design team.
