AutoDoor from Technical Concepts allows touch-free exits from restrooms

January 21, 2008—Technical Concepts, a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative hygiene solutions for the washroom, has launched the AutoDoor Opener, a highly cost-effective system that automates virtually any new or existing non-latching washroom door allowing a touch-free exit from public washrooms, according to the company.

According to the National Center for Infectious Diseases, one-third of men and about 20 percent of women do not wash their hands after using a public washroom. The AutoDoor Opener eliminates the final point of cross-contamination and makes exiting a washroom convenient.

The washroom door opens when an exiting patron places a hand in front of the touch-free sensor to activate it. Because the AutoDoor Opener is not attached to the door, the door can still be easily opened by hand. An optional second sensor makes the entry into the washroom touch-free as well, further improving hygiene.

Unlike other automated door opening systems, the TC AutoDoor Opener utilizes existing door closers and frames, keeping installation simple and cost-effective.

The AutoDoor Opener complies with ADA and ANSI requirements for safety and accessibility. For more information, see the Technical Concepts Web site.
