BAE Systems purchases Cardiac Science AEDs and training for its US facilities

January 17, 2005—Cardiac Science, manufacturer of life-saving automatic public-access defibrillators (AEDs), has announced that Rockville, Maryland-based BAE Systems, one of America’s foremost national security, aerospace, and information systems companies, has purchased Powerheart G3 AEDs for 37 of its facilities nationwide. In addition, BAE Systems has procured the associated AED/CPR training and program management for approximately 500 of its employees.

BAE Systems Technology Solutions, a sector of BAE Systems North America, plans to outfit administrative, research, and industrial locations with the devices, protecting more than 6,000 employees within their US operations.

Robert Murphy, president, BAE Systems Technology Solutions, commented, “We recognized the immeasurable value of installing defibrillators first hand this year when one of our colleagues was saved in a facility that happened to have an AED available and where coworkers had been trained in its use. Our employees are our most valued asset and we intend to do everything we can to protect them in the workplace. Easily accessible defibrillators, such as the Powerheart G3, have been shown to dramatically increase cardiac arrest survival rates and we believe that this fact alone justifies our investment many times over.”
