May 7, 2003—BAE Systems will continue to manage the US Army’s Holston Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, Tennessee, under a $111 million contract modification. The new contract provides funding for the next five years of a 25-year contract originally awarded to BAE SYSTEMS in January 1999.
BAE Systems Ordnance Systems provides facilities management and operation of the Holston facility to manufacture high explosives with the flexibility and rapid response needed to meet US military requirements in peacetime or at war. Work under the contract will be performed by BAE Systems Ordnance Systems employees in Kingsport, and extends until September 2007.
BAE Systems Ordnance Systems has about 200 people providing total management of all activities involved in the production, handling, and supply of high explosives at the Holston plant to meet the requirements of the US Department of Defense. For more information visit BAE Systems.
